The year is 1819 and all is well in the wizarding world. Grogan Stump has just reached the end of a very successful term as Minister for Magic but not before leaving one final legacy. He set up a department within the Ministry of Magic that would, for the first time since the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy of 1692, give particular Muggles knowledge of the wizarding world. These Muggles would play a major role in relations between the magical and non-magical communities of the United Kingdom.

It is perhaps ironic that there are also Muggles employed as slaves by wizarding families. House elves have not yet become popular and a Muggle slave is one of many ways for the elite pureblood families to demonstrate their wealth, in addition to a handful of halfblood families. Those that cannot afford a slave must either resort to use of a house elf or do everything themselves. It was in fact Stump's predecessor, Artemisia Lufkin, that decided to introduce the enslavement of Muggles. If the Muggles could buy their inferiors to do their dirty work, what was wrong with wizards doing the same?

What will such a contrast be the cause of? Some are outraged by Muggles being forced into slavery while others are disgusted to have them walking around the Ministry of Magic. The purebloods are living in luxury while the less fortunate but still magical halfbloods and Muggle-borns struggle to keep a roof over their heads. On top of all that are the ordinary dramas of everyday life. How will you survive between Muggles and magic?
